For our growing drug safety systems team in Mannheim, Germany, we are seeking an experienced


Application Developer


This exciting role involves development of drug safety monitoring systems, to improve processes within clinical trials for our clients, as well as for inhouse projects.

Within this role you will:

  • Collaborate with IT, vendors, and partners, as well as members of SRM leadership, who are the “sponsors” of the various systems
  • Develop, set up or support and maintain new / existing safety system tools / applications, project databases etc.
  • Follow standards on programming style and documentation
  • Implement and document system change requests and updates or create documents if needed
  • Participate in design sessions and provide input on the software solution, architecture and workflows for internal and external clients
  • Debug problems with information systems using a variety of analytical skills, techniques, and resources
  • Generate and develop tools for quality and performance metrics / KPIs on all processes as well as reports and analysis where safety systems are used
  • Ensure proper documentation for the applications / tools, audit readiness and SRM representation at audits
  • Support validation activities to ensure that quality solutions are delivered to the end user to meet set business requirements as well as conform to PRA’s technology principles, architecture, and strategies
  • Ensure all safety systems activities are completed in accordance with SOPs, WIs and other applicable regulations. Establish new SOPs, WIs, manuals if needed
  • Create C# / SQL / VBA NET and other scripts and perform data extraction, analysis and preparation of reports
  • Provide technical support of SRM information systems to peers and end users
  • Maintain and enhance technical knowledge in all relevant areas as well as in global developments
  • Participate in client meetings if required and leads in technical direction
  • Keep management aware of potential & actual issues. Assist in developing solutions
  • Recognize, exemplify and adhere to PRA's values
  • Other activities as identified and requested by senior management


Experience with

  • Design and implementation of C# and ASP .Net applications and web services (mandatory)
  • Writing HTML and CSS to create user-friendly web modules with Javascript and Jquery utilizing 3rd party components like Telerik, ReSharper to create interactive custom web components (of advantage)
  • Object oriented programming concepts and design patterns
  • Unit testing, regression and integration testing
  • Development with tools like Visual Studio, SQL Management Studio
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server and other databases e.g. Oracle. Advanced skills in data storage/retrieval T-SQL (must)
  • Programming data warehouses, dashboards and data visualisation techniques (of advantage)
  • Pharmacovigilance or related services of advantage
  • Fluency in English and conversational German is required

An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience with a minimum of three years proven records in application programming is required.
